Cast-on Sunday Monday

My friend Cat thinks Sundays are the day to cast-on new projects. When I was knitting on Sunday, I didn't have time to start a new project so I did my Sunday cast-on Monday. Progress has been steady. I'm done with the heel and starting with the gusset decreases.  I expect to have it completed by Sunday so I can cast-on the second sock for Cast-on Sunday.

The suggestion for my socks is the Golf/Athletic Socks patter by  Schurch & Parrott. There is an errata for the pattern here, which gives you a full copy of the pattern.  I'm using Cascade Fixation on size 5 DPNs.

Cat's husband told her he thinks I'm "cute as a button." Kinda funny when I look in the mirror and have the dreaded morning hair. HA!

It made me smile and I thought I would share with you. I hope this made you smile and NOT spew coffee at your computer monitor. I know, it's frightening to see my morning hair. You should wake up everyday and see it.

Possums, thrums and a tattoo, oh my.

The hat I knit was using the Vintage Wool. I'm done with the 2 skeins that I bought. I got 5 hats out of those two skeins, 2 baby hats and 3 adult hats. Not bad at all for the cool price of $12 + tax. Do you care enough for me to write up the pattern?

Thrums. Thrums, thrums, thrums. bleech. I'll get back to them but I need to not look at them for awhile. (Thanks, Littlewit for showing me Hello Yarn's blog post about making thrums. You're right. They are easy and I was overthinking them.) That's why I'm taking the Elbac out of time out. Raverly details. It's from the Knitty, Winter 2006 and by Laura (Yarn Thrower). Don't you love her smile? I'm doing version one. I'll let you know how it goes.

The picture of Anneh's tattoo on Ravelry. I just got to her blog and must go back and read more. She's really into sock knitting. The tattoo might have been the tip-off but the FO socks are, like, wow!

Sock Exchange with the Knit Wits!

Quick, look at these photos. The lovely Cat organized a sock exchange for the Ohio Knit Wits for the month of February. The idea was to have people sign-up to be included in the exchange and Cat would randomly match people. There were 8 people in the exchange.

Now, I had Kristen and she was kind that I didn't finish my socks. Work and such, been busy and I've had lots of knitting for the LYS class. Here's a picture of her with the progress socks. It's not like she's excited to have Cider Moon socks in a pattern that I've created for her! See?




Her smile is an indication of how much fun we had! Beth made Cat some fun socks. And Kay made socks for Megan, and Megan made socks for Kristen's Mom and Kristen's mom made socks for Jen, and Jen is making socks for me, Cat made socks for Kay and Kristen made socks for Beth. Who did I forget? I'm holding Jen's socks for ransom. :) They're in my car!

Next exchange is a "2 skeins or less" idea. Use 2 skeins or less for the exchange item. That item can be anything appropriate for the recipient. Sounds like fun, doesn't it? I'm going to use yarn from stash. And there are some great books out there to help with the one or two skeins.
