My Car Holds the Answer

I think 42 is from "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" but I'm not certain. Do you know? Please leave a comment and you'll be "my favorite."

I've never read the book.

He's using DPNs?

Shocking!
(or would that be SOCKING!)

A bit of humor.
warning, the hands give me the finger.

This unnamed knitter is using dpns. Unheard of! He usually knits with the magic loop.
I'll just say that his is EVIL for not letting me film him casting on for a SOCK. It's GENIUS for him to try to branch out.

My knitting in the wild

As a knitter, I enjoy seeing my knitting projects "in the wild." You know what I mean, don't you. Seeing something I've knit being worn without the person knowing that I'm going to be there.  Do you like this?

Recently I visited my sister and her husband. I spotted some socks I knit for her in 2007.  Here's the picture of the socks when I originally gave them to her.

and she was very happy to get them.  See?

I love this photo.  The smile is perfect.

Three and a half years later, she still has the socks and wears them.  I snapped this picture as proof.

Koigu Sock Repair

Koigu Sock Repair

This is a picture of my poor toe repair of my second toe-up sock knit in Koigu yarn. I wore the socks twice and ended up with a hole in the toe. I was unhappy and put the socks away for awhile. Actually, they were in hibernation for 5 years. I found them recently and added them to my to-do list. I did a poor darning of them with some left over Twisted Sisterz Jazz. I might try to felt the toes and heels just to get some more wearing time for these socks. Of course, I could just knit another pair. I have more yarn.

I enjoyed my knitting group on Sunday. Two new crafters joined us. I got this toe fixed and also rebound of the ribbing on the first toe-up socks I knit. Picture to follow.

Josh Knits a Toe-Up Sock

I taught Josh to knit almost two months ago. He wanted to learn to knit socks. Last Sunday Yarmando brought some give away yarn (& his ball winder) and started Josh on his first toe-up sock.

You'll notice Cat is frightened by this endeavor. Strange because her first knitting project were socks.

I'll post an update on his socks te next time I see him.

My knitting is slow.

That sums it up.

This is a picture of a sign I have hanging on my office wall. This has been a very busy week at work with meetings discussing new projects and understanding the big picture. It has been a good week.

At 3:30 today it all caught up with me.

I've not had time this week to process all this new information and determine what needs to happen next. I will do that Sunday night. But tonight is a night to unwind. I don't know if I'll be knitting or just staring into space.

I feel good.

Josh is Knitting :)

Josh is Knitting :)

Just three weeks ago, I taught Josh to knit. Well, I helped what he saw online to make sense. He worked on the obligatory scarf but he started to make up his own pattern by adding cables. I think he is a courageous knitter.

This is a picture of his new scarf. Using size 15 US needles and Bernat Roving, he cast-on Monday night. He's using 2 skeins so it will be almost 10 feet long. He's almost finished. Well done!

Josh is the guy who encourages me to crochet. I really appreciate is willingness to help me and answer my questions without me feel silly.

After I made the last post, I realized you might think the cover is a photo of Drew. Nope, Drew's picture is in the back of the book.
Now, go visit his website www.drewemborsky.com

Now, more crocheting. :)

Another Man

Another Man

I spent the night with another man. Gasp! That's right, Drew Emborsky, The Crochet Dude, and I enjoyed a quiet evening together.

Okay, Drew wasn't here with me in the room but his book "The Crochet Dude's Designs for Guys" was with me. I've been on the lookout for crocheted vest patterns. There are three in this book, two of which I would crochet. I got frustrated because many of the patterns are classified for experienced skill level. Sad me. I'm new to crochet.

I am working the Autowipen rag, size small. I'm using an unknown cotton yarn with a size E hook. The yarn is a worsted weight and the hook a bit small to help me get a tight gauge so it holds up after use. The pattern is rather nice and creates a textured fabric, perfect for a dishcloth.

This interesting thing called crochet is enjoyable. I must pay attention when I crochet so I listened to podcasts. A rather enjoyable evening and I'm pleased with the results.

Truth be told, I have met Drew about 4 years ago at Knitters Mercantile when he stopped by. I treated him just like any other customer who comes in, like a guest in my home that I got to show amazing yarn. He's cuter in person than his photo. His smile in person is quite charming. :)

Thanks for the nice evening, Drew. I think DH will enjoy the small rag.
