Mom Update

A while back I shared that my Mom was in the hospital. Thanks for your kind thougths and well-wishes. She was release from the hospital and has been spending time in a nursing, rehap facility. She's expected to go home on Monday.

We still don't know what exactly they are going to do in the long run.

I'm looking forward to our annual "Thanksmas" celebration. There will be family in from out of town and I'll be seeing a niece and nephew I've never met before.

BTW: I'm finished with my holiday knitting. Are you?

Topi, topi, topic (again and again and again)

I got to spend Sunday evening with my Mom. I cooked dinner, had great conversation and shared some of my knitting with her.



I'm just about finished with my Topi obsession.
One benefit of visiting Mom is listening to her walk down memory lane. I've so enjoyed recording these videos.


(you did notice that I was wearing the same sweater, didn't you? knitSB got that for me. It's a great wool sweater and quite comfy.)

I want to fix this so she can wear it.

The Topi pattern is here and is being knit out of Manos. Yes, this is my 5th or 6th one.

knitSB, LJ and I visited mom on Sunday. She cooked turkey and noodles for us. She even made an apple crumble for dessert. Man, was it good. We played euchre and chatted. It was a perfect afternoon and evening.

Lunch with Ma!

I scheduled the day off and knitBS and I went to have lunch with mom. We had a good time and chatted a lot.

We did talk a little about knitting. In fact, there is a group at her church that is knitting prayer shawls. They seemed surprised that her son knits. She, quite proudly, told them that I knit and knit a lot during family events and times when there are family times at hospitals and such. She told them "he knits socks, a lot." So they ask "is your son still knitting socks" when they see her. I think that's a sign that my mom likes the fact that I knit.

So, I'm thinking of knitting a prayer shawl. The pattern is here. Have you ever knit one? I'm interested in your experience.

Cards with Mom

This past year, my mom was not able to renew her driver's license because she is considered "legally blind." knitSB and I went down to visit her and play euchre with her on the Wednesday after Christmas. Being a smart a$$, I thought it would be fun to gift her some H U G E cards so she see them. They went over well, see.



Euchre playing was great fun. Every once in awhile, I got the feeling that I was at the "kids table" playing cards. They are big and made me feel small.
