Fiber Optic Booth at Knitters Connection

I'm at Knitters connection Thursday & Friday working at the Knitters Mercantile booth. Just down the way is the Fiber Optic booth. The colors of this yarn takes my breath away. I spoke with Kimber Baldwin who is the dyer and owner. I really like it when someone's passion comes through in their work!

Stupid Questions knittingbrow asks

"Do You Knit Lace?"

The LYS that I (used to) work at (and mostly just teach a few classes) sponsors Knitters Connection. I really had fun at the event. Not only did I get to see and feel amazing amounts of yarn, I also met some great people. One of my passions in life is to help people find their "bliss" and it usually takes the form of getting the perfect yarn for their projects. Some of you have seen me help knitters find their yarn. It's fun!

I mentioned "Wooster" in previous blog and videoblog posts and how I met Chris from Briar Rose Fibers. They were at Knitters Connection! I'm an equal opportunity yarn person. I want to help you find the perfect yarn, regardless of who is selling it. (Shhh, don't tell my boss.) Briar Rose's booth was right across from our booth and I wanted people to see the colors in person (and touch the yarn). I'm that way. The video tells a story of the stupid question that I asked. Watch and then continue reading.

Yep, there it was. A reasonable question given to an interested knitter. I didn't find out who she was until about an hour later (I think). *face palm* Marilyn van Keppel translated the lace patterns for Bundanaurriklaedid available from Schoolhouse press. I own this book! She translated other LACE knitting books too!
knitspot and the Gale pattern! Quick, go buy some lace yarn from Briar Rose. Schoolhouse Press and knitspot have got lots of pattern options!

Knitters Connection 2007

You can see some of the photos of people and yarn I experienced while at Knitters Connection in 2007. It was amazing.

there are stories to tell and all of them fun and humorous.

I had several "brushes with greatness" I saw LimeNViolet. I hung out with them in the evenings. I got to be their "bitch" while they were podcasting. They even signed my body. I got this reality style photo of Miss Violet and Me. These are people that I want to knit with again. I also got to meet "sideshow husband" who is a really nice guy. And I didn't get a picture of me with both Lime and Violet.

What an amazing two weeks. (abridged)

I went to TNNA when it was in Columbus.
Took a crochet class from Melissa Leapman. Apparently, my grandmother taught me to crochet and I completely don't remember.
I walked around the exhibits.
I started a new position at my place of employment. A great change.
I worked at Knitters Connection.
I got to listen to Lime and (Violet) do a podcast. I got to be Lime & Violet's "bitch" while in they were in town. You know... bring coffee, bake cookies, etc.
Got to hang out with them over a few drinks.
Met some really great vendors at Knitters Connection, including Yarn Love, Chameleon Color Works, Interlacements amongst others. Continued my great connection with the fab team at Cider Moon.
More later and pictures too!
